Product Description

Offered is a British Army 1895 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword relating to the 3rd Volunteer Battalion of the Welsh Regiment.
Features a nickel pierced nickel guard, showing wear to the interior with Queen Victoria royal cypher & crown design, with full chequered back strap. The wire bound fish skin grip is in very good condition, with a couple of small areas of minor skin loss. The 83cm long, straight blade shows good etchings of foliate patterns with royal cypher, with maker mark for Hobson & Sons of London. There is a family monogram to the name panel and the 3 V.B. Welsh Regt engraved to the central panel. The leather scabbard is in good condition, with only a small section of light separation the drag, with light surface rubbing/wear.
This is a good, well kept service sword, most likely to a well to do officer of the 3rd Volunteer Battalion of the Welsh Regiment, who were active between 1881 and 1908.
