Offered is an original British Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal as awarded between 1949 & 1952.

32mm wide silver medal with scroll suspension and clasp inscribed on a speckled ground ‘REGULAR ARMY’; the face with the crowned head of King George VI facing left, circumscribed ‘GEORGIVS VI DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF; + ’ (George VI by the Grace of God King of Great Britain Defender of the Faith);, signed ‘PM’ (for the sculptor Percy Metcalfe, CVO, RDI, 1895-1970); the reverse inscribed ‘FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT on original ribbon. The medal is named in impressed capitals to: 6138723 SJT. H. A. HAMLIN. A.C.C.

Note this is the scarcer award issue type medal, given this 'coinage head' style was in use for only 3 years.

The medal was instituted on 29 December 1939 to be awarded to non-commissioned officers and other ranks of the British Armed Forces for a minimum of eighteen years’ service.
