WW2 GERMAN ETCHED K98 PARADE STAG GRIPPED BAYONET WITH SCABBARD, FROG & KNOT
Good condition short bayonet, featuring nickel plated birds head pommel, working bayonet locking button and guard, showing light scuff marks. Customised stag grips, in fine condition. 20cm long blade, maker marked for Richard Herder of Solingen, with single side etched design, of an outstretched eagle and ‘lifesaver’ wreath with the swastika. Stylised swirling swastika design to both ends, with typical service time remembrance motto. Etching is in the style of Robert Klaas, minus the oakleaf pattern to either end, which a good number of manufacturers adopted. (see Techet page 222 to 225). Retains black enamel metal scabbard, with leather frog and troddel for the Staff of the 3rd Battalion. Rare to see the stag grips on these etched parade bayonets.
