George Chadwick was born in Ancoats Manchester 1891. His occupation is recorded as ‘Packer”. The WW1 medal roll shows that his initial regimental number on enlisting in the Territorials was 2362. The Territorials were re numbered in 1917 and he was given the new number 706253.

The Regimental numbers  705001 – 710000: were issued to the 331 Brigade, RFA/ 2/2 E Lancashire.

331 Brigade (CCCXXXI): Territorial Force 2nd Line 66th (2nd East Lancs) Division from formation in February 1915 until November 1918. Originally designated 2/II East Lancs Brigade. The Brigade was armed with howitzers.

66th Division.

The Division received orders on 11 February 1917 for embarkation for France. Entertainment began on 25 February and by 16 March all units had arrived and the Division concentrated under XI Corps. The Division then remained in France and Flanders.

Post war service.

Enlisted 2/2/1921 Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Army) with regimental number 735937. Enlisted into the Regular Army 11/4/1921 the 52nd Brigade R.F.A. possibly due to the civil unrest that was sweeping England at the time. Discharged back into the TA 4/7/1921. Discharged 1/2/1939.
