Royal Naval Reserve Decoration (Edward VII issue), being silver and silver-gilt oval skeletal badge with loop for ribbon suspension, the suspension ring with lion silver hallmark; the face with the silver-gilt crowned cipher of King and Emperor Edward VII imposed on a silver rope, a reef knot at the base; the reverse plain with maker’s mark ‘SG’ for Sebastian Henry Garrard of Garrard & Co. Ltd. of London and silver hallmark for 1909, contemporarily engraved 'P.G. Shilston' in sans-serif capitals below the hallmarks. The suspension ring is similarly maker stamped. Comes with the original forest green mounted ribbon.

The Decoration was instituted in 1908 and awarded to commissioned officers of the rank of Sub-Lieutenant and above for 15 years’ service in the Royal Naval Reserve (service in wartime counting double). Recipients were entitled to the post-nominal letters ‘RD’.
