Private Barras was serving with the 2nd Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers just after WW1 as he was issued with a 5 digit number 88957, in 1920 the entire Army re-numbered with the new 7 digit series and he was given the new number 4257479. It is highly probable that his records still exist at the M.O.D. At the end of WW1 the 2nd Battalion was in France, it was redeployed to Mesopotamia (IRAQ)...
