***SOLD*** Original 1908-35 India General Service Medal, with 3 campaign bars to a member of the Baluch Regiment. Features a 36mm wide silver medal with claw and ornate scroll swivel ribbon bar with original ‘NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1930-31’, ‘MOHMAND 1933’ and ‘NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1935’ clasps; the face with the crowned head and shoulders portrait of King George V facing left in coronation robes, circumscribed ‘GEORGIUS V • D • G BRITT • OMN • REX • ET • INDIÆ •IMP •’ (George V by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, Emperor of India); the reverse with a view of Jamrud Fort and the entrance to the Khyber Pass, inscribed ‘INDIA’ on a plaque below with oak and laurel branches to either side; attributed on the edge to 10839 Sep. Ghulam Haider, 5-10 Baluch R; on correct ribbon. The medal was instituted on 1 January 1909 for service in campaigns on India’s borders. This example is of the second George V issue, 1930-1935. The ‘North West Frontier 1930-31’ clasp was awarded for service in operations on the North West Frontier between 23 April 1930 and 22 March 1931 against the Afridis, the ‘Mohmand 1933’ clasp for service in operations against the Upper Mohmands on the North West Frontier during 1933 and to those who served in a defined area between the Swat and Kabul Rivers between 28 July and October 1933 and the ‘North West Frontier 1935’ clasp for service in the Loe Agra operations between 23 February and 13 April 1935 and for service in the Mohmand in defined geographic areas between 15 August and 15 October 1935.
