POST WW2 1957 PATTERN CASED BLOCKADE RUNNER BADGE

1957 version of the Blockade Runner with case, medal measures 49 mm in diameter and is of a zinc construction. The outside box is made of simulation leather, the inside with dark blue velvet or flocage and lining. There is a space for the miniature however it’s missing from this set. In 1957 the West German government authorized official replacement medals without the swastika for wear by WW2 veterans. Kriegsmarine Blockade Runner Badge was instituted on April 1, 1941 in order to reward the ship members who participated to attempt or actually break the allied sea blockade.
