Description

***SOLD***

Offered is a British Army 1897 Pattern Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer’s Sword.
Features a nickel pierced nickel guard, showing with King George V royal cypher & crown design, with full chequered back strap, in excellent condition. The wire bound fish skin grip is in very good condition. The 82cm long, slightly curved blade shows polishing and light pitting, with Enfield Maker marked & issue stamps from 1901 through to 1907. There is a factory number – 692 stamped to blade spine. The leather scabbard is in average to good condition, with a section of light separation to one side of the drag, with some surface rubbing/wear overall. The Sam Browne belt leather frog is attached, showing some cracking to hanger straps, but serviceable. Sword full length: 103cm.
You don’t often come across these NCO’s swords, given many were scrapped at the end of the First World War due to them being taken out of service.
