Features a fire gilded Adam design pommel, with hand engraved details, lanyard ring on 5 ball brass knuckle bow, same design to fouled anchor adorned cross guard, with flat circular brass quillon. The reeded ivory grip is in excellent condition, with brass fouled anchor badge, with hand engraved details to middle and lower brass band. British Naval 1786 Pattern Naval Officer’s 5 Ball Hilt Sword & Scabbard.
Features a fire gilded Adam design pommel, with hand engraved details, lanyard ring on 5 ball brass knuckle bow, same design to fouled anchor adorned cross guard, with flat circular brass quillon. The reeded ivory grip is in excellent condition, with brass fouled anchor badge, with hand engraved details to middle and lower brass band. The straight 70cm long blade, shows engraving to both sides, with royal cypher of King George III and trophies of arms, scrolls etc. Maker engraved to Bland & Foster to spine, with some age pitting and polishing overall, with the blade in generally good condition. The leather and gilded (worn) brass scabbards in very good condition, with all original stitching present and fixing lockets. Retailer engraved to rear locket for R. Johnston (Late Bland & Foster), Sword Cutler & Belt maker to his Majesty, 68 St James St London. Overall length: 86cm.
