PRE WW2 GERMAN HITLER YOUTH KNIFE AND SCABBARD
Out of stock
Pre 1934 version HJ hike/camp knife with the blade motto. Blade 14 mm long, the obverse of the blade has the acid etched motto, “Blut und Ehre!”, (Blood and Honor), in a facsimile of RJF von Schirach’s handwriting. Motto is visible but somewhat faded, but can still be seen. Maker marked to Anton Wingen Jr, Solingen. The hilt features nickel/silver plated, steel, single up-swept cross guard and stylized eagle head pommel. The moulded, black, diamond grooved, bakelite grips with dual dome headed retaining rivets are fully intact. The obverse grip has an imbedded enamelled HJ diamond. The HJ diamond features red top and bottom quarters and white side quarters, with a central canted black swastika, unfortunately one of the white sections has a small chip in it. The knife comes with its original magnetic sheet metal scabbard; the scabbard retains over 90% of its original coating. The leather hanger retains its 2 rivets to the scabbard and is still supple and the retaining strap is in working condition.
The HJ Fahrtenmesser, (Hike/Camp knife), was introduced in early 1933 and was the first blade sidearm to be officially sanctioned by the NSDAP.
