RARE 200TH BICENTENARY WESTERN AUSTRALIAN POLICE TOLEDO SWORD #48 – 1988

Offered is a very rare Western Australian Police 1988 Bi-Centenary presentation sword.  The sword features a faux ray skin pebbled wire bound grip, mounted onto a fire gilded nickel back strap & laurel leaf branched guard, with plain scroll panel for engraving. The 77cm long thin straight blade has etchings running 2/3 down the length of both sides of the sword ‘WEST AUSTRALIAN POLICE’ & ‘1788 BI-CENTENARY COMMEMORATIVE SWORD 1988’. Offered is a very rare Western Australian Police 1988 Bi-Centenary presentation sword. 

The sword features a faux ray skin pebbled wire bound grip, mounted onto a fire gilded nickel back strap & laurel leaf branched guard, with plain scroll panel for engraving. The 77cm long thin straight blade has etchings running 2/3 down the length of both sides of the sword ‘WEST AUSTRALIAN POLICE’ & ‘1788 BI-CENTENARY COMMEMORATIVE SWORD 1988’. The WA Police insignia and swan & crown motif. The maker mark for Fabrica Bermese Toledo & No. 48 engraved. The blade is in excellent, untouched condition. The scabbard retains both suspension rings for hanging and large style maritime ornate drag. The leather outer is in fine condition. The scabbard is likewise in excellent condition with perfect fire gilding. The original cloth sword bag, tagged ‘48’, paper wrapping, tagged ‘48’ and the original packing card box numbered ‘48’ is included. The full length of the sword (in the scabbard) is 91cm.

This is the only example of this sword I have either seen for sale or in existence.
