***SOLD*** Offered is an exceptionally rare 1803 Pattern British Army Grenadier Company Officer’s sword & scabbard.  Sword features a gilt lion’s head pommel, with spotless gilt maine backstrap, polished wooden grip with wire wrap and gilt brass guard, showing the royal cypher & crown for King George III, with grenadiers grenade and multi branched gilded hilt. 82 cm long, slightly curved blade, shows blue & gilt etchings to both sides of floral decorations, royal crown, Honi soit qui mal y pense motto in garter, with maker mark for Osborn & Gunby. Offered is an exceptionally rare 1803 Pattern British Army Grenadier Company Officer’s sword & scabbard.  Sword features a gilt lion’s head pommel, with spotless gilt maine backstrap, polished wooden grip with wire wrap and gilt brass guard, showing the royal cypher & crown for King George III, with grenadiers grenade and multi branched gilded hilt. 82 cm long, slightly curved blade, shows blue & gilt etchings to both sides of floral decorations, royal crown, Honi soit qui mal y pense motto in garter, with maker mark for Osborn & Gunby. Clear engravings, with the majority of the 200 plus year old blue & gilt finish remaining, with the remainder of the blade in very good condition. Scabbard shows both gilt brass lockets and suspension rings (top locket re-affixed, middle has an old catalogue numbered tag affixed), with the leather portion showing the loss of stitching, but held firmly in place with the lockets & chape. A classic sword of the Napoleonic Wars, this amazingly preserved sword is just mesmerising.  Overall length: 99 cm.
