Offered is a rare and well presented German Diplomatic Corps dagger and scabbard. This superb dagger features silver plated hilt fittings showing surface wear to highlights and thinning of plating to the eagle head pommel, backs trap, ferrule and cross guard. Simulated nicely age-toned mother-of-pearl grip plates are perfect with no cracks, chips, or damage. Polished blade is maker marked Alcosa of Solingen, with neat scales trade mark. Blade showing almost no surface wear or runner marks and no pitting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with original dark blue leather buffer pad. Dent free silver-plated scabbard shows light age patina matching the hilt fittings with no lifting or speckling, and with superb detail to the pebbling and to the oak leaf suspension bands. The scabbard throat is secured by a single mounted flat head screw. A well used and cared for piece, which would have seen much diplomatic use during the pre war and war time era.
