Offered is an original 1941-1970 era Mongolian Order of the Polar Star.

Silver gilt six-pointed rayed star; the face with the arms of the Mongolian People’s Republic in polychrome enamels imposed on six gilt and white enamel loops symbolizing happiness and good fortune, all on a pale blue circular medallion decorated with gilt rays; the reverse plain, numbered ‘10493’ at '6 o'clock' position, and with screw and backplate for wear; diameter 47.28mm (1.86 inches); weight 59.86 grams (2.11 oz).

The Order was instituted in 1937 (some sources state 1936) in one class and may be awarded for merit to both military and civilians. Five main versions are known, of which this is the third, introduced in 1941 and replaced in 1970. Some 20,000 examples were issued in all, the first 5,000 being numbered at the ‘7 o’clock’ position and the subsequent 15,000, as in this example, at ‘6 o’clock’. A very good example.
