Description

Offered is a 1908 Pattern Australian Army Trooper’s Cavalry sword – famously used by the Australian Light horsemen.

This is a very good original, WW1 Australian light Horse marked 1908 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Troopers Sword & Scabbard. This pattern of Sword was famously used by the Australian Light Horse during the First World War. The Sword features a 88cm long single edged blade with fuller. The blade is clean, un sharpened or scratched, with light service wear overall. The ricasso is marked SB&N Ltd (Sanderson Brothers & Neubold Limited) and manufacture dated February 1918. The hilt is fitted with its original leather washer. The spine is marked for P08. It has the correct full bowl (brown enamel painted interior) guard and thatched brown composite grip with thumb recess. The bowl is stamped RII A. L. H. 3. (3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment – recruited during WW1 in South Australia). It is complete with its black painted steel scabbard, showing light service wear with fixed hanging rings. Very rarely if ever will you see an Australian Light Horse stamped/used sword.
