Pin backed, marked H.B.G. to needle pin. The cross, along with the knurled pin miniature (marked E.R.) are both housed in the velvet lined leatherette award case & the extremely rare outer card award packet. The provisional award document for the cross is named to Unteroffizier Pottmann, 8th Company of the 131st Infantry Regiment (2nd Lotharingian – Alsace & Lorraine). Pottmann was awarded the cross in the field, on the 9th of November 1918, just two days before the Armistice which ended the First World War.
