Offered is a WW2 era matching numbered German K98 bayonet with scabbard. Bayonet features blued metal fittings overall, with double waffen stamped pommel with working external release button, with screw in bakelite grips and metal guard & muzzle slot. The 25.5 cm long blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to each side of the blade, with no evidence of sharpening, good spear point, with blade being in generally very good condition overall with much of the original blued finish. Standard metal scabbard with most of the protective blue brown finish, with matching numbers & details.
The bayonet was in service with the Karabiner 98 bolt-action rifle, which was chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge and which was adopted on 21st June 1935 as used as the standard service rifle by the German Wehrmacht during WW2.
