**SOLD** WW2 GERMAN ARMY M35 AFRIKA KORPS CAMOUFLAGE UNIFORM STEEL HELMET
$2,500.00
SOLD
Offered is an original and rare early war 3 toned camouflage Model 1935 camouflage steel helmet, as used in Africa/Mediterranean theatre of war during the Second World War.
The large size Quist made helmet retains a very good mixture of the original apple green, dark green paint and greasy brown and sand coloured camouflage paint scheme. You can even make out the white remains of the original double decals to the underside of the applied vents. The overall paint is superb in it's current state, showing well the pre war and wartime use of this helmet. The liner split pins are present, show slight movement, from age, but commensurate with age. The interior of the helmet shows the 2nd applied dark green brush stroke paint scheme overall, with flecks showing the original apple green showing through. The liner and chinstrap are present, the chinstrap having been had it's triangular maker stamped section cut (most likely out of annoyance tot he wearer) and like the liner, is completely original and correctly fitted to the steel shell. The liner shows use and age with some dryness and leather wear in patches to the felt liner to front, retaining the original drawstring to the 8 leather fingers. The rear skirt numbers are covered by the dark green paint, with side showing ‘Q66’ (Quist of Esslingen, size 66). An untouched example of a pre war made helmet, converted to a camouflage helmet for use in the expanses of Africa or the Mediterranean.
