***SOLD*** Offered is an original WW2 German Army Officer’s named sword, to Major Rudolph Freitag of Panzer Grandaier Regiment 5. The sword is an 1889 Pattern Officer’s type, with nickel backstrap and doves head pommel. The backstrap is period engraved ‘Vom Major Rudolph Freitag Panzer-Gren-Regt 5’, with wire wrapped black celluloid grip and period engraved swastika in shield to langet. The slightly curved 92.5cm long blade shows light wear and minute plating loss along the blade, with most plating loss towards end tip, but generally very good overall. The blade is maker marked to E & F Horster of Solingen....

The blade is maker marked to E & F Horster of Solingen.

The blade fits smoothly into the repainted black service scabbard, retaining it's floating suspension ring.

This one of very few attributed German swords, with a very good connection to one of Germany's more elite combat units.
