The sword is an 1889 Pattern Officer's type, with nickel backstrap and doves, head pommel, with wire wrapped black celluloid grip, showing light use and patination overall. The very long, slightly curved 95cm long blade is in very fine condition, with very little if any noticeable wear. The blade shows the maker mark of Carl Eikhorn of Solingen underneath the langet.
The blade fits smoothly into the re-enamelled service scabbard, retaining it's floating suspension ring, showing small traces of the original paintwork. A very good conditioned sword, with a total length of 110cm, meaning whoever wore/used this sword was an exceptionally tall man.
Based on the length of the sword, international bidders will accept that this will be sent via international courier, so the postage rate as stated will be a guide only and may change based on your location and carrier used. These swords were used during the Third Reich, mainly for parade & guard purposes, but did not have a swastika or eagle as part of its design.
