***SOLD*** Offered is a rare  Kriegsmarine award Iron Cross 1st Class. Very good white metal frame with beautiful patina, with good blackened matt enamel to brass core & central square swastika. Correct 3 piece construction with a magnetic core, with 43mm wide frame. Pin backed and unmarked to rear. These ‘brass’ versions were made by jewellers after a number of naval recipeitns complained to the patents and quality control authorities of the fact that their awards were rusting due to the sea exposure whilst on service.
