WW2 GERMAN LUFTWAFFE OBSERVER QUALIFICATION BADGE
Very good condition early to mid war produced Luftwaffe Observer's badge, by IMME & Sohne of Berlin. Solid and well detailed central flying eagle and swastika, with clear lines and hand finished details. Frosted tombak wreath, again with hand finished details. Scalloped backed wreath, shows correct twin domes rivets and barrel hinged pin assembly. Maker stamped IMME to centre of reverse of darkened eagle. A very nicely detailed early award badge.
The observers badge was instituted for award to qualified observer crew members of the Luftwaffe on the 26 March 1936. This is a rarely seen award given most of these crew members were involved in bomber squadrons and were highly qualified for service owing to the strict nature of the qualification course to become qualified.
