This rare piece features a a cream ivorine grip, with darkened brass gilt acorn emblems (one replaced to rear). The gilded knuckle bow, clam shell guard and deer hoof quillion retain a very good amount of the applied gilt finish. The is a 'K' stamped to the centre of the front guard (possibly an owners mark). A very good condition bullion Forestry knot is still tied to the base of the grip.
The 33cm long straight blade features the manufacturers Trade Mark for E & F Horster of Solingen, along with etchings to both sides of the blade showing hunters, their hunting dogs, Boer's, Deer and birds in a typical forest setting. The leaf etching is retained to the blade spine. There is generally little if no wear to the blade, simply runner marks. It is a beautifully preserved piece.
The brown leather & gilt brass scabbard is in very good condition, retaining the majority of the gilding, with toning to the acorn frog stud, which holds the lighter brown leather frog. Frog is maker marked GEBRUDER KLINGE DRESDEN 1937. Also stamped I/167.
A very well preserved piece, which would be a great addition to your collection.
