WW2 German visor cap for non-commissioned officers. Field grey wool material shows light wear.  The white Waffenfarbe (Weiss) shows 2 small moth nips but otherwise intact and in place. Wool cap band is in perfect condition with no damage. The cap eagle measuring 7cm wide by 3.2cm high and is made of a white metal and has been shaped by the original owner the to follow the shape of the cap, however, the recess of the eagle shows signs of light glue residue, even though all pins on the back are present and the eagle is correctly fitted. The SS Totenkopf/deaths head measures 3.2cm wide by 2.8cm high is made of a lightweight metal with a silvered finish. The 14mm leather chin strap shows a partial RZM stamp underneath and is in great condition, leather is supple and both buttons are firmly in place. The pressed Vulkanfiber visor is in good condition with only light crazing on the outside and some small scratches. The leather sweatband inside shows an original factory applied size tag of 60 – very rare to see these still attached also some light staining and signs of period stitching repair. It appears the original owner has put his name on the inside but the naming has faded and difficult to read. Overall a nice well campaign used cap but in very good serviceable condition.
