WW2 ITALIAN PILOT OFFICER’S SWORD & SCABBARD AIR FORCE

Offered is a WW2 Pattern Italian Pilots Officer's sword with scabbard.

The sword features a "Big Wing" brass hilt bowl guard, "feathered" grip back-strap and eagle head pommel with Kings crown nut pommel, all with traces of original gilt coating. Handle is of wood painted white which normally denotes the rank of General or Sky Marshal. Grip with triple twist wire, showing some paint loss and minor wire looseness. The 73.7cm single fullered blade shows etchings to the Royal House of Savoy and crowned airforce eagle clutching the fascist fasces, all surrounded by beautifully executed but worn foliage & martial designs, surface shows signs of age darkening and polish wear. The metal scabbard is solid with signs of age wear to the black leather cover along the back seam. Double lose ring brass hangers and drag present with small remnants of original gilt-work. and drag. Overall length 91cm.

This is a nicely crafted WW2 sword to a high rank Italian Airforce Officer which would display well.
