Richard Herder of Solingen made RAD (Reichs Arbeits Dientse) German Labour Service leader's/officer's hewer and scabbard. Hilt fittings show light surface wear & age overall, with mid war made features to eagle head pommel. Rare opposing orange coloured celluloid grip plates show light surface wear, but no cracks or damage. Plated fittings show light age & wear, but generally good. Deeply etched motto retains the majority of its light gray background frosting Arbeit adelt (work enriches you). Blade shows reasonable use, commensurate with age. Scabbard is very good, with good patina overall with one very small rust point to lower left side of front of scabbard. Light crazing to swelled tip base. Generally a good poresentable RAD Leader's Hewer overall.
