Offered is a very good example of the RAD (Reich Labour Service) enlisted man’s hewer. Good aged silver/nickel plated hilt fittings, showing rubbing wear but good overall. Dark stag horn grip plates show good colour and shape. Gottlieb Hammesfahr of Solingen maker stamped with trademark & RDAJ Ges. Geschutz stamped to ricasso. 24.5cm long ‘bowie’ style blade showing very light surface wear and good etched motto “Arbeit Adelt”, which translates to labour enobles. The steel scabbard is dent free and retains 95% of its black enamel finish. Nickel plated scabbard fittings show light surface age/patina and the original leather hanging...
