Rare mid war Italian or Yugoslavia front painted Model 1942 steel helmet. This helmet retains the majority of the dark yellow sand pattern camouflage, showing the last paint application was made over the original dark green paint scheme. The Heer decal is still 90% present, showing age crazing and scratches, which looks to have been applied over the original decal. The liner is present, showing sweat staining to crown and flaking from the edge. The tabs are all present with creases to the drawstring holes. The rear skirt and inner numbers have been painted over, however this is a very large size, more likely to have been a size 68 (this fits me and I am a regular 59 UK/Aus size). Leather chinstrap is maker stamped and dated 1943. Impressive large size southern european front helmet.
